Have you ever seen a dog up to its chin in mud, or dripping with water? Isn't that a study in joy? Because for most dogs, where there's muck there's bliss.

A dog is meant to explore, and sniff, and get smells on it. Getting messy is an expression of its deepest, most uninhibited, most off-leash nature. And you can tell this is true by the huge grin on its grubby face.

So take joy in today's lineup of mucky pups, and know that it's not your job to clean up (this time). Thanks to everyone who wished me well in my covid confinement; it's hanging around a bit, but the worst seems to be past.
