It's finally the time of year when we can enjoy dining al fresco

We don't get much nice weather here, do we, so when the sun is finally out, most of us like to head outdoors. And if you're lucky enough to have a garden to enjoy, then you'll no doubt spend some summer evenings dining al fresco.

Faced with another summer eating on our rickety wooden table, which had already seen better days before our Labrador puppy got his chops around it, we decided to upgrade to a new garden set from Wilko.

Now our children are a bit older - and the dog has almost stopped jumping on everything in sight - we opted for a glass topped one.

It's a sturdy one - he's already proved that on more than one occasion - and the black glass and powder coated steel frame make it look particularly stylish.

Our previous table seated eight but most of the time it's just the four of us, so it suits us better to have the six seats and there's still plenty of room on the table for the paraphernalia that seems to be part and parcel of any barbecue or outdoor meal in our house.

The chairs are lightweight enough to move around with ease, but the best bit is they actually recline too. And I don't just mean an inch or two, we're not talking aeroplane recliners here. These go way back, meaning once you've filled your face with those burgers and sausages, you can lie back and relax - while someone else hopefully clears the plates.

If you do need some shade while you're eating, the set comes with a black parasol too, but I doubt you'll want to stay under cover for long when you kick back in what is virtually a sun lounger.

The all-weather textylene fabric makes it more or less maintenance-free as well. Gone are the days of us getting the brush and wood stain out to give the table its annual coating.

All the more time to spend in those recliners!
