The race for the signing of Nigeria international, Umar Sadiq, continues to heat with newly promoted La Liga side Getafe also joining in the bidding war for the striker.

With just a week to the start of the 2022/23 La Liga season, the future of the Almería striker is up in the air as a host of clubs continue to show interest in the Nigerian.

Sadiq has grown to become one of the most important players at Almeria in the last two seasons, playing a major role as the Rojiblancos secured promotion to the top division as champions of the Segunda Division after eight years of asking.

The 25-year-old’s impressive performance has drawn interest from several clubs in Europe, with Villarreal and Sevilla the most interested in the forward.

The striker was also recently linked with a move to Borussia Dortmund in Germany. Related News Sadiq rejoins Almeria in training €25m Sadiq on Sevilla radar Sadiq named Segunda Player of The Month

However, according to a Spanish publication, Estadio Deportivo, Getafe have joined in the race for the Nigerian and have submitted an offer of €20m for the striker.

“Getafe CF’s interest has jumped in by surprise in recent hours. They already did it a long time ago but now in Indálico Sound, they have indicated that the Azulón team have made an offer of €20m to UD Almería for the Nigerian,” the website wrote.

“After signing Borja Mayoral, Getafe want to make money with the Turkish Enes Ünal and the possible replacement for the striker could be Umar Sadiq. It is still unknown if Sadiq’s entourage and especially the player himself would be willing to join Quique Sánchez Flores’ team.”

Almeria host champions Real Madrid in their first La Liga match of the season on August 14.
