Another weekend has come around in the EFL!

Here are five things to look out for...

We kick off the weekend action at Vicarage Road where Watford host Burnley in the Sky Bet Championship live on Sky Sports as the two EFL returnees are look to make an immediate return to the top-flight this season.

Vincent Kompany’s side earned a point last weekend against Luton Town whilst Rob Edwards’ registered a draw with West Bromwich Albion, with both newly relegated teams starting the campaign brightly with a win.

And with Watford’s Ismaïla Sarr having this in his locker, who knows what could happen!

Saturday will see referee Sunny Singh Gill will become the first British South Asian to take charge of an EFL fixture since his dad, Jarnail Singh, over a decade ago.

Gill, who made history last season when lining up alongside Sam Allison as the pair officiated a game in Sky Bet League Two, will be the man in the middle for Northampton Town versus Hartlepool United.

And he will tick off another landmark for English football this weekend when he follows in his father’s footsteps as the most senior referee of British South Asian heritage in the country.

It’s tight at the top of League Two at this early stage in the season. Five teams share a 100% record and two of those sides – table topping Walsall and fifth-placed Stevenage – will go head-to-head.

Unbeaten in all EFL competitions, the Saddlers welcome Boro to the Poundland Bescot Stadium, with Michael Flynn’s side having taken maximum points from the Walsall boss’ ex-employers last weekend.

Stevenage manager Steve Evans, on the other hand, knows how to assemble a promotion-winning side at this level, having done so with Crawley Town and Rotherham United in the past. Impressively, Boro knocked Championship side Reading out of the Carabao Cup earlier in the week.

Fourth takes on fifth in Sky Bet League One as Sheffield Wednesday host Charlton Athletic in a top-of-the-table clash.

The Owls, who tested themselves against Championship side Sunderland in the Carabao Cup to progress in the competition during the week, have taken four points from a possible six, coming into the game on the back of a 1-0 win over Milton Keynes Dons last weekend.

Meanwhile, Charlton, who also defeated Queens Park Rangers in midweek to book their place in Round Two, edged Derby County in a 1-0 victory las time out.

Bristol Rovers welcome Oxford United to the Memorial Stadium in League One with the game, which kicks off at 12.30 tomorrow, available to stream on iFollow.

The division’s top scorer, Gas striker Aaron Collins, will be looking to add to his individual tally this weekend. The Welshman has already notched two goals in three league appearances this season.

Whilst the U’s have left it late in their last two outings. Tyler Goodrham netted a 93rd minute matchwinner against Cambridge United last weekend and Cameron Brannagan struck in the same minute against Swansea City in Oxford’s midweek Carabao Cup tie to level proceedings.

Reading midfielder Tom Ince is looking to build on Reading’s start to the season, after the Royals recorded their first win of the campaign last weekend.
